The Technical Sales Support Representative is responsible for providing business support within the assigned region(s), most notably directly to the regional Territory Managers (TM) and/or Project Managers (PM). This position requires a technical competency within the engineering and construction industry, particularly the ability to read civil engineering specifications and design plans with relevance to stormwater applications. This position works in an office setting (Romeoville, IL) and provides support primarily through non-face-to-face interaction, such as: telephone, text, e-mail, chatter and web-conferencing interfacing. The position must be able to support numerous TM’s as defined below (see Responsibilities), effectively prioritize areas of focus with the General Sales Manager and General Manager, and be an effective time manager. Additionally, this position requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills, as this position will be in constant communication with both internal StormTrap departments (Sales, Engineering, Operations, etc.), as well as regional clients. The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times is required.



  • Project lead sourcing (i.e. McGraw Hill Dodge) search assistance – identify and manage the project queue for preliminary/conceptual projects as well as identify value engineering/alternative project opportunities within the region. This would include reviewing online plans and contacting the appropriate firms (civil engineer, architect, owner, contractor, etc.) in support of the local TM.


  • Assisting the region in obtaining/developing appropriate marketing materials from clients (i.e. project case studies, project profiles, etc.), including developing regional and sector specific materials for TM presentations (LNL’s).


  • Support the TM’s when they are mobile and need documents sent to clients quickly, such as supplying proposals to new bidders of currently bidding (i.e. existing) projects.


  • Assist TM’s with entering new accounts, contacts, and opportunities in Customer Relationship Management system (Salesforce), as well as engineering case entry.


  • Review and issue Approval Drawings to clients.


  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to obtain current material and freight pricing for input into project estimates.


  • Assist in organization efforts in Salesforce, Box (Cloud-based data sharing), and StormTrap University content.


  • Participate in monthly Salesforce and Titan reconciliation between Sales and Operations.




Initial training (first 90 days) will require some overnight travel within the Region.  Long-term travel is anticipated to be minimal.  Company-wide meetings, tradeshows, regional meetings and regional events may result in occasional overnight travel (estimated at 3-6 instances per year).
