Project Details: The project involves the installation of a stormwater system before the construction of two 1.1 million square-foot warehouses at Liberty at Mill Creek in Allentown, PA in a propriety which before was a farm. The StormTrap system is being utilized to store and release the rainwater for irrigation.
Challenge: The main challenge of the project was to reduce the stormwater runoff caused by a substantial increased impervious coverage.
Solution: As a result of the installation of the stormwater system, the runoff volume was reduced below pre-development levels. The rainwater is retained and utilized for irrigation in lawn/meadow areas. The system overflows to a swale which drains through municipal & private conveyance to a stream.
Chris Williams, P.E., LEED AP, Project Manager, chose to use the StormTrap system because of the benefits offered: “ease of installation, tolerances for fill above system, and high void percentage”.
