Marriott SouthPark Hotel

The Marriott SouthPark hotel,  located in a fast-growing urban area in Charlotte, NC, was often fully booked and had to turn potential customers away on a regular basis. To solve this issue, JWM Family Enterprises decided to build a new 170-room hotel in the parking lot of the existing hotel.  Due to the redevelopment, a stormwater management system was needed to control and treat the stormwater runoff. The site was extremely tight with a limited area to place the stormwater management system. StormTrap’s DoubleTrap sand filter system was selected due to the high void ratio of the precast system. The system allowed for both treatment (removal of stormwater pollution to meet the City of Charlotte and NC DEQ requirements) and flow attenuation within one structure.
