A former ski area was being developed into a senior living community in North Andover, MA and required a stormwater management system to satisfy state and municipal stormwater regulations.

Challenge

The site’s existing conditions presented difficult planning restraints with steep topography and environmental concerns. A large amount of the site development is located within buffer zones to bordering vegetated wetlands and resulted in an increase of impervious surface.

Solution

The StormTrap system was used for stormwater peak flow mitigation and groundwater recharge. “StormTrap provided maximum water storage volume in a limited footprint,” stated John Barrows, P.E., project engineer for Marchionda & Associates L.P.
