Project Details

McCallen Park in Huntington Beach required trash capture upstream of a large pump station. With no room for an offline treatment system and large, deep piping, StormTrap provided an inline TrashTrap with a custom structure designed to accommodate the existing 93″ reinforced concrete pipe.

Challenge

The project required trash capture to protect the downstream pumps within a very tight site. The large, deep pipe limited available space and prevented the use of an offline treatment system.

Solution

StormTrap provided an In-line TrashTrap with two self-locking hinged baskets and a custom structure designed to accommodate the existing 93″ pipe. The hinged baskets open from the surface using a pull cable, allowing Vac Truck maintenance through surface hatches without confined-space entry. The system was designed for an 83 cfs water quality flow rate and 502.3 cfs peak flow rate. The inline configuration provided the required treatment capacity while fitting within the site constraints.
